Discover Evia: Your Perfect Coastal Getaway Just an Hour from Houston
Are you craving a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of city life? Just an hour away from Houston, Evia on Galveston Island is the perfect spot to unwind and soak up some coastal charm. It has serene landscapes, delightful dining, unique shopping experiences, and a sprinkle of nature’s wonders. We love exploring Evia as there’s always something new around and the nature surrounding gives us a much needed refreshing break.
What is Evia?
Evia brands themselves as more than just a place—it's an experience of a Coastal Oasis. Located across from Moody Gardens Golf Course, this is more of a neighborhood that has dining, shopping, and wildlife. When we were exploring this neighborhood, we passed by beautiful houses (some of them are for sale!) and the vibe was tranquil, peaceful, and a place I would like to escape from time to time.
What Can You Do in Evia?
1. Taste the Local Flavors
Start your day at Sugar Bean Coffee & Cream. Sugar Bean serves delicious coffee including my personal favorite, a killer Chai Latte. The baristas were also friendly, plus points if they play Taylor Swift’s Folklore album at 9am. Every time I’m in Galveston, I take a stroll and always end up with Chai Latte from Sugar Bean. They also have outlets if you want to work remotely and be productive. This is the place to go if you want to savor a Texas-sized scoop of Blue Bell ice cream or chat with a friendly barista over a creamy milkshake.
Craving something a bit more sophisticated? Head over to Empouria at 12 Evia Main. Here, you can pour yourself a glass of delicious wine from their self-serve station. Pair your wine with tasty charcuterie, cheeses, and maybe a bit of caviar for an indulgent afternoon.
2. Shop ‘Til You Drop
Evia is a shopper's paradise! At Kimmy's Boutique, you'll find a vibrant mix of fashion pieces perfect for any outing. Nearby, the Cube Shops are home to Collected, offering chic activewear and resort wear, and Gaby & Grace, where you can discover handcrafted accessories that add just the right amount of flair to your wardrobe. There’s also a salon called Beauty Bar Galveston. I haven’t tried their services yet, but I will probably go the next time as the ladies there are so sweet & friendly every time I walk by their place.
3. Connect with Nature
Nature lovers, rejoice! Evia is home to a peaceful pond, where graceful ducks and various birds make their home. It's the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the tranquil beauty of nature. And if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the stunning peacocks that roam the area. Every time we’re in Evia, we would walk around the pond to admire the ducks and see who’s new in their flock.
4. Join the Fun at Community Events
Evia is bursting with community spirit! With a calendar full of events, from lively festivals to charming neighborhood gatherings, there’s always something happening. It's a great way to meet the locals and immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Galveston. They also have a playground and swimming pool where you can host events. The last time we went there, we saw a gender reveal party and they were having fun.
